Hosted by Historic Environment Scotland, KMA set up and ran a lime burning training day for professionals. This was part of a materials research project led by Kirsty on behalf of the development and disaster relief charity Article 25. It is part of a school reconstruction programme for Haiti, post the January 2010 earthquake where the majority of buildings were destroyed.
Using local materials and locally available skills Article 25 plan to create a sustainable construction legacy with the school construction part of the training and demonstration, as well as provision of places to educate after completion. Repairs have already taken place to some schools with new buildings following on.
